BREAKING NEWS: LA KISS sign AFL Veteran QB Adrian McPherson
The LA KISS have found their quarterback in four-year Arena Football veteran Adrian McPherson. McPherson, along with rookie signal-caller Mike Box, was assigned to the KISS on Wednesday night.
McPherson (6-3, 225, Florida State) holds the AFL career and single-season records for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 65 and 31 (2013), respectively. The 31-year-old McPherson missed all of the 2014 AFL season after signing with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. He last played in Arena Football with the Tampa Bay Storm in 2013, where he completed 238-of-385 passes for 3,151 yards, 59 touchdowns and five interceptions. He finished his time in Tampa as the team’s single-season leader in rushing attempts (90), rushing yardage (428) and rushing touchdowns (31).
Prior to joining the Storm, McPherson spent five seasons (2008-2012) in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes. He appeared in 77 regular season games and completed 145-of-243 passes for 1,505 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions, and added 1,035 yards on 218 rushing attempts with 20 rushing touchdowns. During his time with Montreal he won two Grey Cup Championships (2009, 2010).
McPherson began his professional career in the AFL with the Indiana Firebirds in 2004, earning Rookie of the Year honors. In 2005, he became the first player in in AFL history to begin his professional career in the AFL and then get drafted in the National Football League Entry Draft, as the New Orleans Saints selected him in the fifth round (152nd overall).
