The LA KISS opened up their inaugural 2014 season on the road tonight with a thrilling last minute 41-38 victory over the San Antonio Talons at the Alamodome.
The KISS were led by middle linebacker Beau Bell, who turned in an excellent performance with 5 tackles and 3 sacks.
After the first half the game was tied 14-14. Los Angeles took the lead in the second half with quarterback, J.J. Raterink’s sideline pass completed to Markee White for 6 yards for a first down, touchdown LA. But the KISS were still in for a second half battle when San Antonio took the lead late in the game making it 38-35.
The battle continued as Los Angeles kicker, Kenny Spencer’s field goal attempt was good making it 38-38 with just 43 seconds left on the clock. A big sack from Bell put the Talons at a loss of 6 yards and a missed field goal from San Antonio left just 5 seconds in play. After a completed pass to Markee White, Spencer’s 35-yard field goal secured the LA win in the final seconds of the game.
“We played like a first year team tonight,” says Head Coach Bob McMillen. “The players showed how much they play together as a team, everyone stepped up to the plate and did what they were supposed to do. When you have guys that believe in their teammates, you are going to have a successful team.”
