The Los Angeles KISS have acquired their quarterback in a trade with the Iowa Barnstormers, the Arena Football League office announced today. Four-year AFL veteran J.J. Raterink will join the KISS following a trade that sent future considerations to the Barnstormers.
Raterink (6-0, 210, Wyoming) spent the last two AFL season in Des Moines after beginning his AFL career with the Chicago Rush in 2010. Raterink set new single-season franchise records with the Barnstormers in 2012, passing for 4,870 yards and 93 touchdowns.
The KISS were also assigned second-year receiver Chase Deadder and veteran Jack linebacker Antwan Marsh, both of whom spent last season with the Utah Blaze.
Deadder (6-5, 225, Sacramento State) played in 17 games as a rookie in 2013, hauling in 85 receptions for 793 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a senior at Sacramento State in 2010, Deadder was named Second Team All-Big Sky and voted the team’s MVP after recording 37 receptions for 788 yards and six touchdowns.
Marsh (6-3, 210, Pikeville) is a four-year AFL veteran who began his career with the Spokane Shock in 2010. Marsh has spent the last two seasons with the Utah Blaze, recording 33 tackles and a pair of interceptions in 2013.
