Anaheim, CA—The Arena Football League announced today that LA KISS wide receiver DJ Stephens has been awarded with the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week for his Week 16 performance against the Cleveland Gladiators. This is the first weekly award for Stephens in the 2016 season and the fifth for the LA KISS.
“There is no doubt that Stephens’ hard work and dedication has paid off,” said Head Coach Omarr Smith. “We look forward to Stephens continuing to be an asset in our offense for the remainder of the season.”
Stephens caught 10 passes for 126 yards and four touchdowns, helping the LA KISS secure a 63-61 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday night, which brought them one step closer to hosting a home postseason game. He also had one rush for 20 yards.
So far this season, the fourth-year wide receiver from Santa Clarita, CA ranks second on the LA KISS in receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns with 77, 915, and 16, respectively.
The LA KISS will travel to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Sharks (5-9) on Saturday, July 23 at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. A win would clinch the first home postseason game in franchise history. The game, which is set to kick off at 4:00 p.m. PST, will be available to be streamed live on WatchESPN/ESPN 3.
